Developing the First Negatives
Welcome back! Today involved some very exciting progress. I started off the day at 9:30am by meeting with Kate because I had finished up the roll of film I had started and wasn’t sure how to remove it from the camera without damaging it by letting light in.
Once she had walked me through the right steps, I joined my friend Kally as she worked on her senior project. She is focusing on piano, I greatly appreciate her work so I captured some photos of her while she played. I then walked throughout campus and took photos of students in different art classes and other random scenes. By 11:00am, I had a plethora of negatives to develop. I joined Kate in the developing room where she showed me each step to correctly develop the photos.
I had two rolls to develop and the result was so rewarding! Though one of the rolls was a little damaged, overall they turned out great. I plan on printing them in the dark room tomorrow. Once I had finished hanging the film, I went out to take more photos. I rejoined Kally and the two of us walked on the Rail Trail to Potter Place. Another roll of film was suddenly full so we returned to campus. Before declaring my day over, I researched some areas in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine to see if any sites interested me for a possible field trip. As of right now, I plan on visiting Portsmouth, NH and Quechee Gorge, VT. Hopefully, I will think of some more local places to visit with friends, for now I’ll continue to practice!
You are so awesome!!! Make sure to add not just daily hour totals, but total for the project as well to the blogs. Can't wait to see more pictures!
